Barcelona Like No One’s Ever Seen It
Nick Graham loves taking you Everywhere, and Barcelona being a favorite city to so many, we want to share this eye-popping tour.
Even if you’re a seasoned visitor, you’ve never seen Barcelona quite like this. Our guide, photographer Rob Whitworth, calls this a “flow-motion” film, and it takes hyperlapse to a dazzling new level. At 2:10 minutes, his film tour flows seamlessly through a dizzying array of Barcelona’s fabled sights without breaks or cuts. For the soundscape, Whitworthworked with sound artist Slava Pogorelsky, creating a total experience rather than a mere song accompaniment.
The tour you are about to take is the product of 363 hours work, including 75 hours logistics and travel, 31 hours location scouting, 78 hours shooting and 179 hours post-production. Not to mention 26,014 camera files totaling some 817GB of data. As tourists who get to follow Whitworth through the city’s winding streets and eye-popping locations, we think it was beyond worth it.
Completed in May 2014, “Barcelona in Flow-Motion” was commissioned by the Catalan Tourism Board and achieved one million views within five days of launch. (To see more of Whitworth’s work, check out his website. (http://www.robwhitworth.co.uk/)
